Trabzonspor AŞ have lifted the 48th Turkish Cup by beating Fenerbahçe SK 3-1 after a brilliant second half comeback at Şanlıurfa GAP Arena.

In temperatures over 25C, both teams' players used their energies efficiently and did not force themselves much in the first half. Nevertheless, Trabzonspor seemed more dominant in the attack as they came close to scoring with Umut Bulut and Burak Yılmaz whose free kick was fantastically saved by Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Volkan Demirel.

Ten minutes into the second half, Alex put Fenerbahçe ahead by controlling Daniel Güiza's cross and appyling a left-foot finish despite he was closely marked. İstanbul giants' joy only lasted eleven minutes as Umut Bulut equalised the score with a header. Although the score was level, knowing that cup triumph would give them prestige and better UEFA Europa League participation position, The Black Sea side continued to take defensive risks. This strategy beared its fruit on 80 minutes when Engin Baytar entered the penalty area and struck a powerful shot from close range, turning the initiative to his side. Argentinian midfielder Gustavo Colman added the last goal in the added time and ensured the victory for Trabzonspor.

The Southeastern Anatolia Region city, Şanlıurfa and its 30.000-capacity stadium hosted such a big final for the first time.
